Nintendo Reveals Some Fancy New Uhhhh, New Super Mario Bros. 2 Artwork.

This New branding across 2D Mario platformers the last few years is getting out of control. Will I really find myself someday down the line asking a store clerk to “pull me down a copy of that New Super Mario Bros. Wii U 2, sugarpants”? I have no doubt about it. Anyway the new wallpaper looks pretty snazzy and showcases this game’s surprising emphasis on coin collecting. An aspect of the Mario series that I thought had become pretty arbitrary quite a long time ago. Y’know, what with the ridiculous amount of easily obtained extra lives and what not and so on and so forth. Unless Nintendo has devised some kind of new mechanic that makes racking these bad boys up not only fun but integral to the gameplay, I can’t imagine how that accompanying chime can possibly sound satisfying again. I guess we’ll all find out August 19th.
