So There’s Some Good News and Some Bad News:
The good news is that in honor of Mario’s 25th anniversary this year, Nintendo is releasing a special Wii in a “Mario-Red” color scheme. The bad is that if you really love Mario enough to buy shit like this then you’ve probably already owned a Nintendo Wii for nearly 4 years now.
Slowly but surely…
I’m gonna go ahead and predict that this sucker will never see a release here in the U.S. (despite the fact that that sweet Super Mario All Stars Disc I mentioned a while back just received a confirmed European release). I guess I don’t really mind so much because I actually think that the color is pretty terrible. The one thing that does drive me up the wall however is the fact that the system comes pre-loaded with a special version of the original Super Mario Bros.:
Come on, Nintendo. The least you bastards can do is make this damn thing downloadable for current owners.
So far the only difference that’s been shown are those little 25’s replacing the question marks on blocks throughout the game. For the benefit of my bank account I’m hoping that there isn’t much else to it than that.
This bastard will be unleashed in Japan on November 11th and will cost a fist full of Yen.
